What is Chuni?

Chuni – is traditional Russian peasant footwear, that got spread in the late 19th century among easter slav people. Dictionary gives it definition as hemp rope shoes, however the materials used are quite different, and this footwear got a second life with the use of wool by the people of Caucasian Mountains. For the outdoors it is usually combined with the outer rubber boots (galoshes) or in more practical solution of crocs in today days. In combination with inherent benefits of wool like unprecedented warms, breathability, antimicrobial and water repellent qualities it gets more more popular among young practical generation and healthy lives activists.
